The Batner Bookstore opened its doors on
June 1, 1983, the brainchild of Corina Batner. Corina, a trained Chemist
with a second degree in French Literature, began a small community
bookstore which specialized in literature, children’s books and
Canadiana. Today, our store is twice the size it was when it opened and
provides a comprehensive selection of textbooks and resources to a much
broader community.
Far from forgetting our roots, we still carry an
extensive selection of adult and children’s literature. We cater to many
bookclubs and are always pleased to recommend our favourite titles to
readers of any age. Our goal is to provide the quantity and selection of
a large retailer while maintaining the attention to detail and customer
service of a community store, to which our customers have come to
expect. |
| The Batner Bookstore is operated on a
day-to-day basis by Yoram Batner, Corina’s son and co-owner of the
business, and Andrew Bonham, the Store Manager. Yoram has led bookclubs
and tutored English and is pleased to discuss curriculum construction,
vacation reading, and everything in between. Andrew, with a degree in
pure mathematics, has extensive experience in teaching math at all
levels and is our resident expert on the subject.
Andrew and Yoram, as well as Corina and our staff, are
always pleased to help in any way we can. Whether you need a textbook, a
hard to find title, a special order or a suggestion for a course of
study you can count on us to help whenever possible. |
